An important determinant of the success of the Ministry’s policy development efforts is the quality of information and analysis available to it, both internally and from outside sources.   Based on the policy development priorities identified by the Ministry, a detailed research agenda has been developed, along with procedures for approval and monitoring of research studies. 

• Under each policy area a set of studies were developed to support the formalization of the recommendations and in that area many studies were published, as mentioned above. Others were for internal use.

 

• Information, statistics, and databases are a cornerstone to any decision making; SMEPol has supported the establishment of such to insure the presence of such information:

 

• Negotiations with CAPMAS to conduct a thorough and updated survey on all SMEs working in Egypt

 

• Conducting a research on: “Conceptual Design for an M/SME Database in Egypt”

 

•  “A Profile of SMEs in Egypt”

 

• Establishing a resource center with books, periodicals, and documents on MSME issues
